SYNORA

Terms of Service

The short version: Synora helps you find researchers whose published work matches yours, and drafts the first email. It cannot get you admitted, it will not promise that it can, and it never writes to anyone on your behalf.

Provider — SKLZ LABS LLC, a limited liability company registered in the Kyrgyz Republic
Service — Synora
Contact — fxfactor24@gmail.com
Version — 1.0 · Effective — 20 August 2026
Draft, not legal advice. These terms describe accurately how the software behaves and were written against the consumer rules that apply in the markets Synora serves. They have not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Sections 6 and 11 in particular — cancellation rights and liability — should be reviewed before any payment is taken from a consumer in the EU or UK.

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and SKLZ LABS LLC ("Synora", "we"). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Synora.

You must be 16 or older. If you are using Synora on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may bind it.

2. What Synora is

Synora is a search and matching tool. It holds profiles built from the public research record, matches them against a description of what you want to research, and shows you the reasoning behind every match — which shared field, which shared topic, worth how many points — so you can judge it rather than take our word for it. It also drafts an introductory email for you to edit and send yourself.

Some parts are free. Some are paid, and where they are, the price is shown before you pay.

3. What Synora is not

This section is the important one, and we would rather you read it than the liability clause.

4. Your account

5. Services from researchers

Where a researcher offers a paid service — reviewing a proposal, a guidance call, feedback on an application, a practice interview — that service is provided by that researcher, not by us. We introduce you, we handle the payment, and we take a commission that is disclosed to both sides.

6. Payment and cancellation

Prices are shown before purchase and include any tax we are required to charge. Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time from your account — if you can subscribe online, you can cancel online.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK

You have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason. For digital services this runs from the day the contract is made.

If you want access immediately — which most people do — you will be asked to tick a box confirming two separate things: that you expressly consent to us starting before the 14 days are up, and that you acknowledge you lose the right to withdraw once we have. We will then email you confirmation of the contract. If we fail to obtain both confirmations or to send that email, you keep the right to withdraw, and you owe us nothing for what you used in the meantime.

To withdraw, email us. You do not have to use a particular form, but one is available on request.

Refunds outside that

Subscription fees already charged for a period you have used are not routinely refunded. Marketplace services are covered by section 5. If you think you have been charged unfairly, write to us — we would rather resolve it than argue.

7. Acceptable use

Do not:

Cold-emailing academics is a normal and legitimate part of applying for doctoral study. Doing it a thousand times over is not, and it damages every other applicant using the platform. We rate limit, and we will suspend accounts that abuse it.

8. Researcher profiles

Profiles are built from the public bibliographic record. If a profile is yours, you may claim it by signing in with ORCID, after which you control what it says about your intentions — and only that; the published record itself is not editable, because a profile you can rewrite is a CV nobody checked.

If a profile is yours and you want it gone, email us and it will be removed, with no account and no reason required. See the Privacy Notice.

9. Your content

What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to operate the service — to store it, show it back to you, and show it to a researcher if you choose to contact them. We do not use it to advertise, we do not sell it, and we do not publish it.

10. Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time; deletion is real and cascades to your saved researchers, searches and tracked applications. We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 7, and we will tell you why. If we close your account without cause, we refund the unused part of anything you have paid.

11. Liability

We provide Synora with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any match, draft or introduction will lead to a place, an offer, funding, or a reply.

We are liable for loss we cause by failing to meet our obligations, but not for loss that was not foreseeable, and not for loss arising from a decision made by a university, a supervisor, or an immigration authority — none of whom we control or influence.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in these terms.

Where liability can lawfully be capped, ours is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the courts of the Kyrgyz Republic have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.

Come to us first — fxfactor24@gmail.com. We will acknowledge within seven working days.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may close your account if you do not accept it.
